The sailing ship Fryderyk Chopin - the world's largest brig in service - has now docked on the banks of London's River Thames, at St Katherine's Pier in the heart of the capital. She'll be in the city for 10 days packed with events devoted to her namesake, the great 19th century Polish pianist and composer.

The ship was officially welcomed to London by the mayors of Tower Hamlets and Havering, the director of the Mayor's Thames Festival, and a host of British officials, artists and VIPs.

While the ship is in London a range of events will take place until 12 September in and around St Katherine's Dock, next to the iconic Tower Bridge, to celebrate the bicentenary of Chopin.

Live concerts, performances and presentations will take place aboard and around the sailing ship, based on the themes that embody the true Polish spirit: passion, youth, music, love, romanticism, freedom and creativity.
